London 2012 Games

London 2012 has around 7,000 direct contracts, forming supply chains of around 75,000 opportunities. The latest information shows that more than 40 West Sussex businesses have won top-tier London 2012 contracts from the Olympic Delivery Authority or through CompeteFor. Successes include Cordek, based in Slinfold, near Horsham, winners of a contract for the construction of the diving boards for the Aquatics Centre.

British Business Club
This summer tens of thousands of international business representatives will visit London for the 2012 Games. In order to help businesses take advantage of this opportunity, The London Business Network have partnered with UKTI, London & Partners and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills to create the British Business Club.  The British Business Club provides access to networking events related to London 2012 and major international sporting events. Members can also create an online profile to connect to potential business partners worldwide. Membership of the British Business Club is free. Businesses can join, wherever you are based in the world to take advantage of an environment supporting and encouraging business networking during the Games.

Preparing your staff for London 2012
People 1st, the sector skills council for the tourism, passenger transport and hospitality industries, has developed a number of resources to help businesses get into shape for 2012 and beyond. Check out their website for some great ideas and reources including a free, practical guide designed to help businesses of all sizes prepare for, and capitalise on, the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and other world-class events.

Bidding for Contracts
West Sussex County Council, in partnership with local authorities want to make sure any local business interested in bidding for contracts has the right information and support to help them.  The South East Business Portal has information about existing contracts and forthcoming tendering opportunities in the region and Business Link is the official government portal providing small businesses with access to lower-value public sector contracts including a completely new service called Contracts Finder which provides public sector procurement opportunities.

The site is published by VisitBritain in partnership with the London 2012 Nations & Regions Group and contains a wealth of practical information on the Games, advice on how you can benefit and resources to help you play your part in welcoming the world to the UK.
