Food and Drink

Horsham District Food and Drink
Consumer interest in local produce has grown in the last few years as people become more discerning about what they eat, encouraged by healthy eating promotions and growing media coverage.
Healthy, local and seasonal food and drink is clearly at the forefront of people's minds. There are numerous farmers markets across West Sussex every month and plenty of farm shops around the District, so you don't have to wait for the next Food and Drink Festival to experience the best of local food - you can shop locally all year round!
Horsham District Council has organised a Horsham District Food and Drink Festival for many years - now celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2012 - raising awareness and celebrating the quality and diversity of local seasonal produce. Take a look at the Food and Drink Festival page in this section or visit www.horshamlocalproduce.co.uk and download a copy of the programme.
For further details on any aspect of the Festival, contact us on 01403 215529 or email business.development@horsham.gov.uk.
Enjoy a Sussex Breakfast!
For visitors to the District perhaps one of the best things about being on holiday is the delicious breakfast you look forward to every day. If you enjoy sampling the best of tasty local produce then choose a Sussex Breakfast during your stay: When you see the logo you can be assured that at least 60% of your plate is 'home grown' with sausages and bacon from pigs reared outdoors or in open straw barns and eggs from free range chickens. Other quality ingredients may include seasonal apple juice, homemade jams and marmalades or fresh milk from small local dairies - all quality ingredients sourced direct from Sussex producers or purchased from farm shops supplied by local farmers and craft processors. A Sussex Breakfast means shorter supply chains and reduced food miles. Look out for the Sussex Breakfast logo next time you book accommodation in Sussex - or ask the establishment if they are serving this, the best of Sussex Breakfast.
