Street Scene Team
Horsham District Council's Street Scene Wardens have been in post since July 2007. The District Council has a duty to improve the quality of the local environment as well as assisting in reducing crime and disorder. As such the team's remit is to patrol the District, responding to information from communities, parishes, Police and other partner agencies to ensure the local area is free from enviro-crime and low level anti-social behaviour. Feedback from customers suggest that they have made a very positive contribution towards improving the quality of life for all who live, work and visit the District.
The scheme has been accredited by Sussex Police and Wardens have powers to issue fixed penalty notices for a wide range of offences such as graffiti, dog fouling, littering, fly posting and fly tipping. The Wardens are also able to seize alcohol from underage drinkers in public places and require names and addresses from people engaging in anti-social behaviour.
The team work closely with partner organisations such as the Police and housing associations, to ensure that information is shared on a regular basis.
Overall, the team aim to improve the quality of life for all who live, work and visit the District. If there is something they are unable to deal with themselves they will refer the query on to the relevant person or agency.

Fly Tipping
Horsham District Council will always seek to prosecute for illegal fly tipping where possible and encourages members of the public to report any incidents so that action can be taken.
