Community Safety Partnership

Reducing crime, disorder and antisocial behaviour is something we all want to see in our community. Everyone wants to feel safe in their neighbourhoods, homes and when out and about.
Accomplishing such aims is no longer the responsibility of just one agency, such as the Police. The Government now requires local organisations to work together to improve Community Safety for all residents living in the Horsham District.
The members of the HCSP are:
JAG (Joint Action Group)
PFMG (Performance, Finance and Monitoring Group)
ECG (Environmental Crime Group)
VCG (Vehicle Crime Group)
Communications Group
Harm Reduction Forum
PPO (Prolific and Priority Offenders Group)
TIG (Target Identification Group)
CRG (Casualty Reduction Group)
COMMUNITY SAFETY – STRATEGIC ASSESSMENT
The Strategic Assessment reviewed crime and disorder across the District and sought to identify what was happening and where. From this assessment recommendations were made which fed into the Partnership Plan. The Assessment gives an accurate picture of crime and disorder and identifies those Wards where greater problems exist. It also summarises public perception of crime in that the fear of crime always outweighs the reality. These perceptions have been gathered through a range of consultation exercises and surveys described in the assessment.
HORSHAM DISTRICT PARTNERSHIP PLAN 2008 – 2011
Horsham District Community Safety Partnership has published its latest 3-year Partnership Plan for 2008 – 2011. It follows a Strategic Assessment that revealed the Horsham District remains the safest local government District in West Sussex, with less crime per 1,000 people than any other Borough or District. Overall, the Plan recognises that the District is a very safe place to live and work, with crime and disorder rates well below the national and Sussex averages. For example in 2008
- Public Place violent crime reduced by 15% to 624 offences
- Domestic Burglary decreased by 12% to 688 offences
- Vehicle Crime decreased by 5%
- Criminal Damage reduced by 3%
- Total crime was down by 5% to 5929 offences against 6225 in 2007
For 2008-2011 the emphasis has moved away from chasing targets and is now focussed on providing a quality service, responding to local need.
