Hearing Loops

We have installed a number of aids to communication (hearing loops) throughout our offices. The aim is to improve communication facilities for those who are hard of hearing. The use of a hearing loop system may be considered a reasonable adjustment for staff to make when meeting the needs of hard of hearing (hearing aid users) staff and visitors.
 
Permanent loops
 
These are permanently wired systems. If they are being used in meetings or seminars they may need to be booked in advance to ensure the right equipment is in place. Those located at reception desks are permanently switched on.

Temporary loops

These are used in 1 to 1 meetings. They are hand-held and can easily be moved into a small interview room or office to help further reduce background noise. The table below shows the location of temporary loops in our buildings:

If you experience problems using a loop system or if you are a visitor requiring a loop facility which is either not present or not working contact the Access Officer.
