Operation Crackdown:

This is a Sussex Police website for reporting anti-social driving, whether careless or deliberate.  The following can be reported via the website:

• Speeding
• Careless/inconsiderate driving
• Driving under the influence or alcohol or drugs
• Underage driving
• Excessive noise
• Driving with no licence/insurance
• Driving whilst using a mobile phone
• No tax disc
• Unacceptable vehicle condition or use
• Driving without wearing a seatbelt
• Abandoned vehicles

If you see someone driving in an anti-social manner, or spot an abandoned vehicle it is important that you

• Pull over safely at the side of the road, or ask a passenger to write down details
• Vehicle make, model, colour and number plate will all help enquiries
• When noting the location, use house numbers or shop and road names to pinpoint where the incident happened, or where you spotted the vehicle
• Write a brief description of what you saw, while it is still fresh in your mind

Once you have made your report - either online through the Operation Crackdown website or by telephone on 01243 642222 – your information will be analysed and appropriate action will be taken.

You can also report an Abandoned Vehicle on the same website.

Driver Skills Course:

This course is offered to drivers aged between 17 and 25 years old who have been stopped for irresponsible driving.  For further information please contact the ASB Team on 0845 60 70 999 ext 30233.

SID (Speed Indicator Device)

This is a mobile speed indication device which is run by local volunteers as a way of making drivers more concious of the speed they are travelling.  It is used in areas where speeding is an issue and will display the driver's speed followed by either a smiley face or a frown, depending on whether they are below or above the correct speed limit.  While this device does not carry enforceable penalties, it is effective at making people aware of the speed they are driving and this in turn generally makes people slow down.  For anyone who is driving anti-socially or significantly over the speed limit, their details can be taken and reported to Operation Crackdown.  For further information please contact the SID Co-ordinator:
