Parish Council Representatives

Below are photographs and biographies of the Parish Council representatives of the Council's Standards Committee.

Val Court

Parish Council representative Val CourtValerie Court was born and educated in Surrey and moved to Horsham in 1966. Her career began in a National Clearing Bank; she worked there for eight years before moving to the North West Sussex Water Board. After having raised a family she returned to work as an Assistant Bursar at a local boarding school for twelve years. For the following twenty years Valerie was employed by Horsham District Council, working in the Estates and Property department, during which time she sat on various committees until retirement in 2010.

Over the past twenty-two years Valerie has been part of the management committee for her local village hall, being chairman for most of this time, as well as being a member of the Action in Rural Sussex Village Hall Advisory Group. For the past twenty-one years she has been a Councillor for Nuthurst Parish Council and is currently the chairman. In 2011 she was voted in as chairman of the Horsham Association of Local Councils and appointed as a representative on the Standards Committee.

Isabel Glenister

Parish Council representative Isabel GlenisterIsabel Glenister BA (Hons) (business management) has been working in the not-for-profit sector for 13 years, in a variety of roles, mostly in the areas of policy, strategy, project management, finance and diplomacy. Her career started with computing, leading her to be the technical training and development officer for an international computer company. Before taking a career break to bring up her three sons, she also undertook various roles within sales and marketing, utilising her expertise in customer relationship management. During the years that she was home-based Isabel continued to use her personnel, training, organisational and business experience in occasional paid work and voluntarily for the benefit of the charities she was involved with.

When the opportunity arose in 2006, Isabel was pleased to join the Parish Council of West Chiltington and then became the Parish’s representative on Horsham Association of Local Councils (HALC). She was appointed to the Standards Committee in 2011.
