RECYCLING AND REFUSE COLLECTION

Wheelie Bin

General

  • We provide a weekly refuse and recycling collection service from the kerbside.
  • Place your wheeled bin and recycling baskets at your collection point before 7am – or we will assume you do not need a collection.
  • Also do not forget the changes to your collection following bank holidays.  Look at your recycling calendar or in the local press for details.
  • You may receive a coloured card from your collectors advising you of changes or problems.  If you need more information about the recycling or refuse collection service please call the Info Line on 01403 733144.
  • You can also bring glass, newspapers and magazines, plastic bottles and cans, textiles, books and shoes for recycling to the various Community Recycling Points around the district.
  • On the Acorn Scheme you will have a larger wheeled bin with a brown lid for garden waste and card.  We collect the smaller refuse bin every week and the garden waste with card bin on alternate weeks.  No extra bags of refuse will be taken.  Carry on using your recycling baskets for newspapers with magazines and cans with plastic bottles and aerosols. If you have any concerns or questions, please call the Info Line on 01403 733144.

Excess Waste

  • Any rubbish placed outside the wheeled bin will not be collected.  Households with 6 persons or less must contain their rubbish in a 140-litre wheeled bin to enable refuse collection to take place.
  • Anyone unable to contain their residual waste in one bin can arrange a visit by a Council Officer to discuss waste minimisation.
  • Rubbish not contained in your wheeled bin will be collected following the Christmas and New Year period only, and this is limited to three black sack for each household.
  • You can take your excess waste to the Household Waste Recycling Site off the A24 at the Hop Oast roundabout, Horsham.

Assisted Collections

  • If you are frail or disabled you may have difficulty moving your bin or baskets to your collection point. If you feel you need assistance to have your wheeled bin and baskets collected contact 01403 733144 for an assisted collection application form.

Collection Points

  • Your wheeled bin and baskets should be put out where the access to your property meets the highway.
  • Do not forget that the baskets are less visible than the wheeled bins so please leave them where they can be seen.
