BUSINESS WASTE

The Environmental Protection Act 1990 requires all businesses to have proper arrangements in place for the disposal of their waste.
All businesses that produce ‘controlled waste’ (that is all forms of commercial and industrial waste) will be subject to what is called the ‘Duty of Care’. This means that you must, by law, take all reasonable steps to look after any waste you have and prevent its escape or illegal disposal by others.
Horsham District Council offers a Trade Waste Service for all businesses in the Horsham District. It offers a reliable local service at competitive rates. Below is a list of bin sizes and prices:
| Bin Size (Litres) | Price (Exc. VAT) |
|---|---|
| 140 | £3.99 |
| 240 | £4.19 |
| 360 | £4.66 |
| 660 | £6.90 |
| 770 | £7.54 |
| 1100 (first bin) | £9.03 |
| 1100 (subsequent bins) | £8.81 |
Prices are charged on a ‘per emptying’ basis and collection frequency can be arranged from daily, weekly, fortnightly or monthly. Where food waste is concerned a minimum of a weekly collection is required.
Hazardous waste such as cooking oil, chemicals, builders’ rubble, engine oil or tyres can not be collected and alternative arrangements must be made.
All contracts run on a six-month pay-in-advance basis, April to September, and October to March.
Telephone 01403 739391 for any further information or to make arrangements for a collection.
Telephone 01403 733144 for any missed collections.
