REVIEW AND ASSESSMENT OF AIR QUALITY IN HORSHAM DISTRICT
Horsham District Council has monitored air quality within the district for more than 10 years. We have 27 monitoring sites for Nitrogen Dioxide and a monitoring station providing continuous real-time data, 24 hours a day for both nitrogen dioxide and particulates (PM10). The monitoring data has been invaluable for assessing local air quality trends year on year and has provided essential data for HDC's Air Quality Review and Assessment, required under the Environment Act 1995.
The latest air quality review was completed in April 2008 in the form of a Progress Report. This report concentrates on the progress on implementing local air quality management and achieving or maintaining concentrations below the air quality objectives. These aims are demonstrated by reporting on updated monitoring data and new local developments that might affect air quality. A further review of air quality in Horsham District will be completed in April 2009.
The latest Progress Report is reproduced on the links below as are the National Air Quality Standards and Objectives.
