HORSHAM FOOD SAFETY

The Food Safety Team is responsible for enforcing food safety in approximately 1000 businesses operating in Horsham District. A wide variety of premises are visited, including restaurants, takeaways, pubs, hotels, food manufacturers, shops, supermarkets, work canteens, home and outdoor caterers. In addition to enforcing food safety legislation, maintenance of satisfactory food safety standards is encouraged through giving technical advice to existing and prospective food business proprietors, taking food samples and provision of advisory literature. We also provide courses for food handlers at the Council offices and on site if the numbers of candidates is significant.

The team also investigates complaints relating to food or food premises and investigates incidences of infectious diseases and food poisoning.
