DISABILITY BENEFITS

If you are disabled you may be entitled to benefits outlined below (numbers 1 -6). You may be able to get more information from Jobcentre Plus and other offices if you are of working age. For more information contact your local Jobcentre Plus office. In the Horsham District the only Jobcentre Plus office is located in Horsham:

  1. Disability Living Allowance
  2. Tax Credits
  3. Incapacity Benefit
  4. Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (accidents)
  5. Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (disease)
  6. Severe Disablement Allowance

Since April 2001 it has not been possible to make a new claim for Severe Disablement Allowance (SDA). If you were getting SDA in April 2001 you will normally continue to receive it.

A confidential telephone service is available for people with disabilities and their carers. Ring the Benefit Enquiry Line (BEL) on 0800 88 22 00.

People who are deaf or hard of hearing or with speech problems using a textphone can dial 0800 24 33 55.
