Welcome to the environment and planning section
Protecting our local environment is a priority for Horsham District Council. We are committed to creating and maintaining healthy, safe and strong communities in the District.
Use this section of the website to find information or advice on everything from applying for planning permission to street cleaning, see the useful links at the bottom of this page.
Planning
The Planning services consist of a number of specialist teams, including those dealing with development management, policy, compliance and conservation.
Since 1 April 2011, Horsham District Council has been processing planning applications submitted in the area of the South Downs National Park that falls within Horsham District, under the terms of an agency agreement with the South Downs National Park Authority.
Building Control
Sussex Building Control is the Local Authority department whose job it is to make sure building works comply with Building Regulations. The team of surveyors and support staff check your plans and drawings and inspect your work on site to ensure it is being built to Building Regulations standards. Sussex Building Control provides building control services for both Horsham District Council and Crawley Borough Council.
Rubbish, Recycling and Street Cleaning
The team collect domestic and trade waste, provide recycling services and keep the streets clean.
Environmental Health and Licensing
The Environmental Health and Licensing Team deals with a wide range of public health and licensing matters.
