Graffiti

Graffiti

Graffiti or ‘street art’ damage is an emerging phenomenon, which has over the last few years become more and more evident away from the major cities, being found increasingly in towns and villages throughout the country.

Graffiti is classified as criminal damage and is an offence punishable by up to ten years imprisonment.

Luckily the Horsham District only has isolated outbreaks of graffiti, but when it does happen it can make an area look run down and uncared for.

The Council will try to remove any offensive graffiti within twenty four hours of it being reported. Other graffiti should be removed within three and five days. Where graffiti appears on private property the Council can remove it, although there may be a small charge if it is extensive.

The Horsham District Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (HCDRP) are offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for graffiti. Information can be left anonymously on 01403 215186.

If you wish to report graffiti to us please use the online form where you can upload a photograph of the graffiti, or contact us on 01403 733144.
