Real Nappies

Baby with nappy

Did you know that...

  • Each baby uses over 5,000 nappies in 2 and a half years
  • In West Sussex 30 million disposable nappies are thrown away each year
  • The majority of these used disposables are buried in landfill sites

What are Real Nappies?

Also known as 'cotton nappies', they are essentially nappies made from natural materials, are washable and can be used over and over again. Widely available in a range of styles, sizes, colours and prices they are a viable alternative to diposables.

Real Nappy Benefits

  • Significantly reduce the amount of waste ending up in landfill sites
  • Breathable and eliminates the need for chemical gels
  • Less likely to cause allergic reactions in babies
  • No pins required
  • Can be used again on a second baby
  • Cost effective; could save parents around £500
