Publicising Planning Applications

Publicising Planning Applications

The Council will publicise planning applications in accordance with statutory requirements. Publicity may include any, some or all of the methods below, depending upon the type and nature of the application:

Horsham District Council’s Website

During the life of a planning application all documents and plans are shown on the Council’s website. Once the application has been decided, only certain documents (application form, accompanying documents, plans, officer's report and decision notice etc.) will remain on-line.

Comments may also be made on-line.

Site Notices

If the application relates to a Listed Building or is within a Conservation Area a site notice will be erected by the case officer.

Newspaper Advertisement

Only appropriate planning applications will be advertised in a local newspaper.

Neighbour Notification

The Council currently has a policy of initially notifying those neighbours who are adjoining the application site at the time the application is first submitted. Notifications are sent to the occupier of the property. In addition, further notification may be made by the case officer when he/she undertakes a site visit. A consultation period of 21 days is allowed from the date of the notification in either case.
