The Public Health and Licensing Department was formerly named Environmental Health.  Food hygiene, pollution control, housing standards, health and safety at work, public safety licensing including taxis and private hire, animal welfare licensing, pest control, infectious diseases and food poisoning, public health nuisances and stray dogs are the key services of the department.

Working in close partnership with West Sussex Primary Care Trust, the Public Health and Licensing Department promotes good health in line with the Government's health improvement strategies.

Local Authorities are required to advertise applications relating to some Premises Licence and Club Premises Certificates on their website by posting a notice in the prescribed form.

These are applications for a new licence or certificate, any applications to vary the licence or certificate other than minor variations or any reviews. These notices will be removed from the site at the end of the statutory consultation period, twenty eight days, or soon thereafter.

If you wish to view any current notice go to Premises or Club Notices.

The department's staff will try to deal as efficiently as possible with your enquiries.  If help cannot be given immediately, you should expect a response within three days.
