Conservation Tasks
Would you like to help look after your local countryside?
Horsham Green Gym offers practical conservation work on countryside and green spaces throughout Horsham. We meet on Tuesday mornings through the year and, on Thursday mornings from the beginning of October to the end of March. It's free and open to everyone - we provide the equipment, training and the tea and biscuits! Come and take part, improve your health and do your bit for the environment. For more details contact David Jessop on tel: (01403) 269384 or email jessopdavid@aol.com.
Gatwick Green Space organises mid week and Sunday conservation work days on countryside sites in Horsham and Crawley throughout the year. Tasks include heathland management, coppicing, pond clearance, tree planting and fencing. Come and enjoy a day at sites such as Chesworth Farm, Warnham Local Nature Reserve and Tilgate Forest, and work to to help improve the wildlife at these important sites. All tools, hot drinks and biscuits are provided, just bring a packed lunch. For more details contact Pete Crawford on tel: (01293) 550730 or email pete.crawford@surreycc.gov.uk
If you're looking for something a bit more local, take a look at the Community Involvement page to see if there is a volunteer group looking after green space just down your road.
