West Sussex 'Ahead of the Game' Flag

Horsham District Council has joined up with a variety of partners around the County to get “Ahead of the Game” in anticipation of the 2012 London Games.

‘West Sussex - Ahead of the Game’ is a partnership working to ensure West Sussex residents, communities and businesses benefit fully from the 2012 Games. This is being coordinated by the West Sussex Working Group for the 2012 Games which is made up of the County’s local authorities, as well as West Sussex Arts, Tourism and Economic Partnerships, Sussex County Sports Partnership and West Sussex Primary Care Trust.

London 2012 Open Weekends 2009 - 2012 
Celebrations will be taking place each year in the last weekend in July at Broadbridge Heath Leisure Centre, The Pavilions In The Park, Steyning Leisure Centre, and Billingshurst Leisure Centre as part of the three-day national celebrations marking the countdown to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.  The weekends will include free sports coaching with qualified coaches and a range of free family activities. Meet Great Britain's Paralympic and Olympic champions and watch the progress of Ringo, the Horsham District's new 2012 mascot.

Training Camps
In preparation for the 2012 London Games Horsham District Council is part of the Gatwick Diamond consortium of venues offering sporting and accommodation facilities to international teams wanting to train in the UK in the run up to the Games. You may want to .

Two of Horsham’s Leisure Centres have already been approved as potential training camps for athletes in the lead up to the Games. Broadbridge Heath Leisure Centre (Athletics facilities) and The Pavilions In The Park (Gymnastics Centre) will be listed in the Pre Games Training Camp Guide which will be distributed to teams competing in Beijing this summer. They take their place alongside other venues from the Gatwick Diamond Consortium including Hickstead, K2 in Crawley and Olympos in Burgess Hill in trying to attract competing national teams.
