Groups offering longer Guided Walks

If our short walks have whetted your appetite and you are feeling a little more adventurous, there are other groups in the area that provide longer walks. Whilst we are happy to include their information in this programme, they are not part of the Health Walks Scheme. Therefore, Horsham District Council cannot be responsible for the safety of any walkers who join these groups.

  • Horsham and Billingshurst Ramblers. 3 - 14 miles, varied times and venues usually meet at Horsham station and share cars. Ring for details. Mary Parsons 01403 271720.
  • Society of Sussex Wealdmen. 8am to 9.30am start every Sunday. 14+ miles including pub lunch. Various locations in Sussex, Hants, Surrey and Kent. Membership £4/annum to include programme card. 50p per walk for guests. Betty le Bihan 01737 222964 or Peter Hodge 01403 264564.
  • Pulborough Strollers. Walks start at 1:30pm every other Saturday. Locations include the Pulborough area and Sussex coast. Mike Phillips 07771 821734.
  • Cranleigh and District Walkers. Meet every other Sunday 10:00am for 8 - 10 mile walks in Surrey and Sussex, meeting in Cranleigh (car park next to leisure centre). Mike Phillips 07771 821734.
  • Sussex Pathfinders Rambling Club. Meet Saturdays and Sunday for walks ranging from 5-12 miles all over Sussex and sometimes beyond. For more information call 0870 777 2307 or go to their website: www.sussex-pathfinders.co.uk

Amberley Downland Discovery
In connection with the Arun Valley Rail Partnership, take a walk around the downs above Amberley, taking in the wildlife and history of the area.

Self Guided Walks
If you don't want to walk as part of a group on one of our daily walks, which are led by our trained volunteers, Horsham District Council can also provide details of self guided walks which have been mapped out for you.

The new walking in England website has thousands of walks to download and print FREE and also gives you, county by county, all the information you need for the best walking in the Country.

Walks with Wheelchairs and Buggies
A new, easy to use, national centralised database of walks has been created which are suitable for wheelchair users and parents with buggies to help people with access challenges out into the fresh air and improve their health.
