COMMUNITY YOUTH PROVISION

Informal Youth Provision

We work closely with Parish Councils, the Police and other local partners to provide and improve facilities and activities for young people, from new skateparks to DJ-ing workshops.

THESE ARE SOME OF THE FACILITIES AND ACTIVITIES WE HAVE PROVIDED:

  • free access facilities such as street sports areas (roller skating, skateboarding, BMX-ing etc),
  • outdoor basketball areas,
  • drop in workshops at youth clubs (DJ-ing, mixing, graffiti art, issues theatre, etc.)
  • and events with a bias towards young people such as 'Battle of the Bands and under 17 dance nights.

For those looking for more structured activities, we can offer good links with a range of sport and arts groups, which cover the entire district.  For more details visit the leisure link page.

We also provide work experience for young people seeking future employment in the leisure industry. For details on how we can help you or your area, please contact Tel: (01403) 215385, Fax: (01403) 215625 or Email: community.development@horsham.gov.uk.

We are always looking for volunteers to help with different activities. If you have got some time to spare and enjoy working with young people we would be keen to hear from you.

NEW:
Have you read our recent Youth Strategy special report? The Council's mission is to "work in partnership to secure a better quality of life for all". This Youth Strategy is intended to set out what can be done to improve the quality of life for young people from across the District. It is based on what young people have told us and what can realistically be achieved to meet their needs and aspirations.
