PLACES TO VISIT - HERITAGE TRAIL

Find out about the historic landmarks in your area!
Across our District are 32 special sites of historic interest which have been marked with a distinctive blue plaque. A free illustrated booklet on the Trail is also available.
At each site, you will find a blue plaque with a short account of why the place is important, together with an illustration drawn from Horsham Museum's picture collection.
The trail is designed to allow you to create your own route.
For example, if you are interested in literature, you could visit Parham House, home of Lord Curzon who wrote the celebrated Victorian travel book; 'Visit to the Monasteries of the Levant'.
Then you could go on to Warnham to see where the poet Shelley was christened and to Shipley, home of Hilaire Belloc, and West Grinstead where he lays buried!
Or if the medieval period appeals, then the paintings at Hardham, near Pulborough and West Chiltington, and ruins of Bramber Castle in Bramber are musts.
This Heritage Trail was created in the year 2000 with a Heritage Lottery Fund grant.
A free fully illustrated booklet is available from Horsham Tourist Information Centre at 9 Causeway, Horsham, West Sussex RH12 1HE; all we request is a stamp to cover postage.
