A new event will bring Horsham Park to life this summer in an explosion of colour, music and laughter!
Horsham’s Big Day Out will take place between 11am and 6pm on Sunday 19 July and will be packed with the best in international street theatre, food and craft stalls, a giant funfair, and local groups and organisations offering fun activities and taster sessions for the whole family.
The Big Day Out Music Stage will entertain crowds throughout the day with an exciting line up of live music fresh from the stages of Glastonbury. From Sheelanagig with their exhilarating blend of folk, jazz and world music, and The Baghdaddies with their unique combination of gypsy jazz, roots, ska, and Balkan beats, to the recycled tunes of Big Beat who will create some incredible sounds on a multi-coloured array of industrial waste, including gas-pipes, shopping trolleys and even the kitchen sink!
Be part of the national Big Lunch celebration and join in the Big Day Out Picnic. Bring a hamper full of treats to enjoy whilst watching the live music or sample the delights from a variety of onsite food stalls. Choose between mouth-watering Thai noodles, a traditional hog roast, or posh lamb burgers, and why not complete your festival feast with something cold and refreshing from the onsite Pimms and Mojito bar!
One of the main event highlights will be the Big Splash Carnival sponsored by Southern Water. After a day of free carnival workshops, participants will be able to display their creations in a procession through the Town Centre led by the 30-piece Maracatu Samba band. So join us as a participant or spectator in this lively procession of colourful costumes and heart-thumping samba beats.
The Rotary Club will bring together a range of charities all offering traditional games and activities in a bid to raise money for local good causes. Cancer Research and Winston’s Wish will join over twenty other groups. So dig deep and have fun, your small change could make a big change to others!
Whatever your age, whatever your interests, this is one sizzling summer event not to be missed!
