Hawks Preparing To Fly
Horsham Basketball Club is launching a search for a new generation of players to spearhead its renaissance as a competitive force in Sussex basketball.
It will be running trials for a new team – the Hawks – that will be entering the Sussex Youth Basketball League U11’s section next season. John Dishington, a local basketball coach, will be running the team and Horsham Leisure Link, the Council’s sports development team will be lending support. John also brings experience of being part of the highly successful Brighton Cougars club operation.
The trials, targeting boys and girls in school year 4 - 6, will be taking place at Forest Recreation Centre, Forest School in Horsham on 14th, 21st and 28th June 2008, all 4:30 - 6pm and will involve a mixture of skills testing and matchplay analysis. Cost per session is £3.00 (LAC £1.50). Parent/guardians are requested to stay for the first 10 minutes of the first session for player registration and a brief introduction to the ‘Hawks’ training sessions and aims for the 2008/9 season. Children who do not get selected for the squad will be welcome to attend regular junior training sessions throughout the season so they can work towards moving up to the squad at a later stage.

Community Events Service
The Community Events Service is a specialist service which supports local community events through the provision of a low-cost children's entertainer, a bouncy castle, or sports/play equipment.
This service is available from May to September to any non-profit making group running a public event in the Horsham District, subject to availability. For further information, please contact the Events and Promotions Officer on 01403 215279.
