Get ready for Earth Hour

14 Mar 2011

ON SATURDAY 26 March at 8.30pm Earth Hour 2011 will take place - globally.

This is an opportunity for every individual, every business and every community to switch their lights off for one hour in a collective display of commitment to protect the one thing that unites everyone - the planet.

In 2010, over 120 countries and territories turned off their lights, including the notable landmarks of Sydney Harbour Bridge, the CN Tower in Toronto and Horsham District Council’s Park House building in Horsham.

Lantern Making Workshop

To help get ready for Earth Hour, Horsham District Council is running a glass lantern making workshop on Saturday 26 March. Taking part is free, and the activities will be taking place on the Bandstand in the Carfax, Horsham between 10am and 4pm. Either bring along a glass jar or use one of the ones supplied.
Alongside the lantern making, there will be lots of information and advice on how individuals can make an ongoing difference.

How are you celebrating?

Horsham District Council would like to capture how people across the District are supporting Earth Hour. To take part, please send pictures of Earth Hour being celebrated to sustainability@horsham.gov.uk . These will be published later this year.
