By-election to be held

A BY-ELECTION is to be held on Thursday 16 February 2012 for the vacant seat on Horsham District Council of Itchingfield, Slinfold and Warnham. The by-election follows the resignation of Cllr Robert Nye in December.
Nomination papers for candidates must be delivered to Horsham District Council, Park North, North Street, Horsham, RH12 1RL by noon at the latest on 20 January 2012.
A statement confirming the nominated candidates’ names will be released after noon on Tuesday 24 January 2012.
Applications to be added to the Register of Electors must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, Horsham District Council, Park North, North Street, Horsham, RH12 1RL by Wednesday 8 February 2012 to be effective for this election.
Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes, and proxy amendments or cancellations, must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Horsham District Council, Park North, North Street, Horsham, RH12 1RL by 5pm on Wednesday 1 February 2012.
Applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Horsham District Council, Park North, North Street, Horsham, RH12 1RL by 5pm on Wednesday 8 February 2012.
Applications to vote by proxy at this election applied for on grounds of physical incapacity, where that physical incapacity occurred after 5pm on Wednesday 8 February 2012, must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Horsham District Council, Park North, North Street, Horsham, RH12 1RL by 5pm on polling day.
The by-election polling hours will run from 7am to 10pm on Thursday 16 February 2012 and there will be three polling stations – Barns Green Village Hall in Itchingfield, Slinfold Village Hall in Slinfold and Warnham Primary School in Warnham.
The by-election results will be declared by midnight on polling day and a copy of the results will be posted on the count venue door, which will be Park Barn in Horsham opposite Horsham District Council offices, and on the elections pages.
