Fun run for Ashington first responders

24 Apr 2008

A FUN run is being organised by neighbourhood wardens to benefit the Ashington First Responders.

All proceeds from the fun run will benefit the Ashington First Responders, a dedicated group of first aiders who have been trained by South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Trust (SECAmb) to attend certain medical emergencies while ambulance clinicians are en route.

Horsham District Council’s neighbourhood wardens are organising the event, which takes place on Saturday 4 May at Ashington Recreation Ground, Foster Lane, from 10.30am.

There will be three races held on the day; for young children, the under 15s and those over 15. All participants in the fun run will receive a medal courtesy of the Red Lion Public House in Ashington, which is supporting the event.

Elizabeth Greenfield of the Ashington First Responders explains:

“The Ashington First Responders unit is vital in helping at certain emergencies in the Ashington area.

“We are delighted to be the beneficiaries of this fun run and the money raised will go towards sustaining this important service in the village and its surrounding areas.”

Sam Nott, Manager at the Red Lion Public House in Ashington, added:

“The community is getting behind the fun run to support the First Responders and we are pleased to be supporting such a worthy cause.”
