Grant for Steyning Table Tennis Club
10 Aug 2010
HORSHAM District Council has been helping Steyning Table Tennis Club to obtain grant funding, which will enable the development of the club.
The club is celebrating after being awarded a £2,200 Grassroots grant from the Sussex Community Foundation.
The money will be used to purchase new equipment that will support a recently agreed linkage with Steyning Grammar School’s Shooting Field site. The teachers are keen to improve table tennis as an extra curricular activity as it is an inclusive and accessible sport and hope to feed more talent into the local club's ranks.
A total of £800 has also been secured from the Sports Unlimited fund for engaging professional coaches for kick-starting the plan.
Horsham District Council's Leisure Link team provided advice and support for both successful bids and will be involved in supporting the delivery of the work.
Horsham Leisure Link is the Council’s sports development team working in partnership with schools, parish councils, leisure centres, village halls, groups and individuals to develop and establish new accessible sport and active recreation opportunities throughout the District.
