Be entertained at the Cookery Theatre, where renowned chefs from local restaurants and pubs will be cooking up some delicious food and sharing their recipes throughout the day. Follow The Big Nibble trail around the town and discover other participating town centre businesses and above all bring your empty shopping bags, because you will be tempted by all the fantastic tasty food and drink on offer.
Take some time out to go on the ever popular Horsham Beer Trail. At a mere £1, it is fantastic value, and your chance to sample the delights of the finest beers that Horsham pubs have to offer.
A bit of advice though - put your flat shoes on, as once you’re there, you will want to stay all day…..
If you love food and are particularly passionate about locally produced food and drink - IT'S A MUST! You really don’t want to miss out on this year’s legendary Big Nibble. It’s the most hotly anticipated event in the festival calendar! Last year’s event attracted record crowds. Its popularity was overwhelming, as people turned up in their droves to Horsham’s Carfax. Many producers had sold out by midday and had to make emergency trips to replenish their stocks.
Saturday’s Big Nibble is just the fabulous first course to the four week Horsham District Food and Drink Festival programme, which showcases a wider range of local produce and events than ever before.
The Horsham District Food andDrink Festival runs from 4 September to 3 October, coinciding with British Food Fortnight. The four week, 40 page programme with 109 entries is already available and if you haven’t got one yet, there’s no time to lose. You don't want to miss out on anything, so you need to get your hands on a copy! This is the definitive guide that includes the full calendar of events, the tastings, the tours, the many offers and the contact details of every single business participating in the Festival. You will need to have it with you when you are out on your travels as many of the offers ask that you show the programme to qualify!
The Horsham Food andDrink Festival has been running for eight years and both the Festival and The Big Nibble are organised by Horsham District Council. This year’s sponsors are: Freedom Food, West Sussex County Council, FSB, Spirit FM, The Resident, Spofforths, Foundry Press, Camelia Botnar Homes andGardens, Wabi, and Chichester College.
The Festival is a testament to the growing public passion for locally produced food and drink and the Horsham District is certainly blessed as far as that's concerned, with many award winning artisan producers, micro-breweries, vineyards, fantastic farms and farm shops and independent retailers as well as scrumptious eateries serving up local fayre.
The message is clear: get the programme, get your diary out and prepare to take your taste buds on a terrific tour!
