Horsham Time Well Spent 2012 event programme
25 Jan 2012
HORSHAM District Council, in partnership with Horsham Unlimited and many other local partners and organisations, is pleased to announce the details of the Horsham Time Well Spent 2012 event programme.
A number of exciting events are planned for the Horsham District during 2012 and Horsham District Council is working with a large number of local business and community partners to both put these together and to benefit from their association.
Many of these partners came together for the official event programme launch held at The Capitol theatre in Horsham on Thursday 19 January 2012.
Kicking off the event programme on Thursday 16 February 2012 is the Ringway Charity Pancake Races and Mascots Egg and Spoon with the annual Microbiz taking place on 10 March.
In April, the popular Horsham Piazza Italia will once again be heading to Horsham over the Easter weekend and a special tea party will be taking place in June to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
A Caribbean Party will be taking place during Sparks in the Park in Horsham Park, which will help the town celebrate the 2012 London Olympics on Sunday 15 July 2012 while The Big Nibble Local Foods Event will take place in Horsham town centre on Saturday 1st September.
An October Half Term Festival will feature a Halloween party on Saturday 27 October 2012 and a range of activities are planned throughout the week, which are likely to include funfair rides and markets leading up to bonfire night at the end of the week.
A second Rotary Club Mascot Party for Children in Need on Sunday 4 November 2012 is set to build on the success of last year’s colourful event, which brought smiles to hundreds of young children and their families.
Co-ordinating an exciting and varied event programme is one of many steps that Horsham District Council is taking to support the local economy and in so doing more to meet its goal to build the town’s reputation for arts, leisure and culture.
Councillor Roger Paterson, Horsham District Council Cabinet Member for the Local Economy, said:
“The exciting events organised for the coming year are a great way for residents and visitors to get involved in the District's activities, as well as helping to support our local economy.
“It is so encouraging to see how much is on offer for 2012 and I personally greatly look forward to joining in with lots of the events taking place over the next 12 months.”
Councillor Jonathan Chowen, Horsham District Council Cabinet Member for Arts, Heritage and Leisure, said:
“The event programme for 2012 is full of exciting opportunities for local people to engage in the community as well as support the local economy.
”I hope residents and visitors alike take part in the varied activities that are being put on by Horsham District Council and other local partners and organisations and help celebrate important occasions such as the London Olympics and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.”
