Neighbourhood Wardens

There are currently two neighbourhood warden schemes running in the District.

Below are the contact details for the wardens, together with a summary of their responsibilities.

  • Reducing crime and the fear of crime - by visible and strategic patrolling, problem solving, providing simple crime prevention advice and referral of incidents and vulnerable properties/people to police, neighbourhood watch, Victim Support and the District Council as appropriate.
  • Deterring anti-social behaviour - by visible patrolling at relevant times and advice to those responsible for it. Liaison with Community Beat Officer and joint patrolling from time to time.
  • Caring for the physical appearance and management of the neighbourhood - by reporting graffiti, damage, defective street furniture, neglect to appropriate authorities and departments - including care and repair schemes for vulnerable people.
  • Fostering social inclusion - by close liaison with Youth Service, Parish social and recreational organisations, NHS primary care group, Schools, and developing neighbourhood links.
