LATEST INFORMATION: The South East England Regional Assembly (SEERA) is seeking views on providing places to live for gypsies, travellers and travelling showpeople in the South East
The Council published the Gypsy and Traveller Sites: Issues and Options Development Plan Document for consultation on 3 November 2006, with comments being accepted until 15 December 2006.
The document sets out the Council's strategy for dealing with the provision of both permanent and transit Gypsy and Traveller sites. At this stage the purpose of the document is to identify and explain the range of issues which must be addressed and considered, it does not include the identification of any sites. A Sustainability Appraisal and Strategic Environmental Assessment (SA/SEA): Scoping Report is appended to the main document.
Comments received during the consultation period will inform the preparation of the Gypsy and Traveller Sites: ‘Preferred Options’ document which is expected to be published in Spring 2008. At that stage, the document will outline any identified need and introduce any potential sites.
The Issues and Options document is available for inspection or purchase from the Horsham District Council offices, Park North, North Street, Horsham, RH12 1RL. The offices are open 8:45am - 5:20pm Monday to Thursday and 8:45am - 4:20pm on Fridays.
The document is also available at the other deposit locations of Horsham and Storrington libraries. In addition, it is available to view at other libraries across the District.
A copy of the document is also available to download as a pdf file.
