The Council has embarked on a process leading to the review of its adopted Core Strategy. As part of this process it is seeking to explore how to flesh out the existing vision, assess challenges, provide a platform for decision-making, and help to achieve the spatial objectives. It has, therefore, commisioned consultants, Experian Limited, to undertake a 'Visioning Horsham' project in order to:
provide an evidence-base for future spatial policy-making consistent with evidence at the regional and national level
identify, assess and understand key trends, drivers, events and developments likely to impact on the District over the next 20 years - and consider whether, and how, they will work with or against the existing vision
assess the economic dimension of spatial policy and the implications for the spatial objectives
provide an understanding of the potential scenarios facing the District, identifying key implications to underpin decision-making and strategic planning in the present.
The final report of the consultants is available to download. The Council is currently structuring a debate on the issues raised and the suggested policy responses. It wishes to invite contributions and seek views by 31 July 2008. Any contributions should be sent to the Strategic and Community Planning Department, Park North, North Street, Horsham or emailed to strategic.planning@horsham.gov.uk.
