Charity event organisers call on entertainers for support

18 November 2009

Horsham Rotary Club and Horsham District Council are encouraging entertainers to take part in a Christmas charity market, sponsored by Spofforths Private Client Services.

The organisers are looking for artists to perform at the market which will be held in the Carfax, Horsham town centre on Sunday 29 November from 10am - 4pm.

It’s hoped that jugglers, magicians, clowns, stilt walkers, puppeteers, ventriloquists and other artists who enjoy working with Children, will help amuse the crowds. Entertainers who plan to join in the festive activities will need to register their interest by emailing the Rotary Club (mailto:jleross@attglobal.net). The most popular acts will be invited to participate in Horsham’s annual Kidz Stuff Festival in June 2010.

Visitors will be able to enjoy the great entertainment on offer and also do their Christmas shopping at the many charity stalls. There will be free rides around the town on a steam bus; musical entertainment from the Petworth Town Band and Hallelujah Choir. Hepworth’s Brewery will be selling gluhwein and beer, and there will also be delicious hot food available. Noddy will also be present in Swan Walk, and the Capitol Theatre will be hosting a Christmas Art and Craft Fair.

The event is being run by Horsham Markets on behalf of Horsham District Council and Horsham Rotary Club. Philip Lansberry, Director of Spofforths Private Client Services, is delighted to be part of this initiative and aims to help the community by providing a drop-off point at the firm’s stand where the public can donate Christmas presents. The Rotary Club will then distribute these gifts to the elderly and less privileged in the district.

Spofforths will also be organising some great fundraising activities for visitors to enjoy on the day. Philip said: “This event demonstrates what a caring community Horsham is and we are delighted to be able to show our support for the town by spreading a little Christmas cheer. We believe that it will be a great success and become an annual activity that will flourish over the coming years.”

The public are also being urged to donate nearly new items that would make ideal Christmas Gifts to the charities involved at the market. Those that have shops in the town.... St. Catherine’s Hospice, Oxfam, Cancer Research and Help the Aged... will gladly accept such items at their shops prior to 29 November others will willingly accept them at their stalls on the day.
