More Views Wanted On Carfax Catering

16th July 2001

DECISIONS on the future of Horsham Carfax’s green catering kiosk are being put on hold until further public consultation has taken place, Horsham District Council’s Executive meeting decided on Thursday (12 July 01).

Councillors have asked for more views from local people and organisations to help them decide if the Council should continue to provide a catering outlet to service the benches and tables in the Carfax and, if so, whether or not the existing arrangements should continue.

Cllr David Jenkins, Cabinet Member for Strategic Planning & Transport, said: "The existing arrangements provide a valuable local amenity but the Council is aware of different views. We feel there is a need for more public feedback on this issue. We will therefore be seeking further views before making decisions."   A number of local organisations are being contacted. The public is invited to write to or email the Council’s head of Legal Services at the Council’s offices in North Street, Horsham for further information and to express its views (email: licensing@horsham.gov.uk). Responses are asked for by 30 July.

Feedback on the views of local people and organisations is now due to be reported at the Council’s next Executive meeting on 23 August.
