New Look To Part Of Everyday Life

30th July 2001

A part of everyday life in the Horsham District is getting a new look as all refuse collectors and grounds maintenance staff are being issued with new, high visibility work clothing in a drive to improve customer service.

The move comes as Horsham District Council Direct Services is busier than ever, collecting and recycling rubbish from each home in the district every working day of the year.

The district’s entire team of 83 refuse collectors and grounds maintenance staff will be immediately recognisable in a vibrant mix of navy blue, maroon and fluorescent work and safety clothing.

Cllr Robert Nye, Cabinet member for the Environment, comments: "We want the provision of new uniforms to help improve staff safety and recruitment. We also want to show our commitment to each and every one of our staff in recognition of the excellent and very demanding work they do.

"We strongly believe that a happy and safe workforce is key to providing the best possible service to our customers."
