The Evolving 'Horsham Experience' Goes On Show

25th January 2002

PLANS for extensive improvements to the facilities and services offered in Horsham and Southwater will be on show for everyone to see from Friday 1 February (2002) in an exhibition called 'Visions - Horsham 2002'.

The much talked about improvements are the final part of an ongoing development plan which aims to offer the unique and evolving 'Horsham experience' to those who live, work or visit the town and nearby areas.

For seven days from Friday 1 - 8 February (2002), an empty shop in Horsham's Swan Walk Shopping Centre will be converted into a public exhibition with all the different projects on display for developments and improvements to both Horsham town and Southwater. Staff will be at the exhibition to explain and discuss the various projects and to hear the public's views on those proposals still being consulted upon.

Visitors to the 'Visions - Horsham 2002' exhibition will be able to see plans, descriptions and artists’ impressions of various proposals. Some interactive aspects have been added including computer displays.

There are a large number of major projects on show, including 'The Pavilions…in the Park' swimming and leisure complex in Horsham Park, the refurbishment and extension of Horsham Arts Centre, the use of Horsham's Drill Hall, the Park and Ride scheme and other transport issues, the redevelopment of the centre of Southwater and parking proposals for Horsham.

The Chairman of Horsham District Council, Councillor Claire Vickers, said:

"I would like to invite everyone to visit the 'Visions - Horsham 2002' exhibition. It contains information about existing and planned developments for Horsham and Southwater.

"This exhibition is the latest in a series of consultations and Horsham District Council actively wants to hear what residents think of those new proposals being displayed.

"As with all the previous exhibitions, the Council will carefully consider all comments and representations that it receives."
