Leisure Services Wins New Charter Mark Award
8th December 2004
Horsham District Council’s Leisure Services department has once again been awarded the prestigious Charter Mark customer care award for excellence in delivering a wide range of high quality leisure services to Horsham District residents. Leisure Services has maintained the high standards required by the Charter Mark award since it was first awarded to the department in 1997.
In winning the award, Leisure Services has been recognised for the efforts made in delivering a fair and accessible service for all, using resources effectively and imaginatively, and working within a corporate environment with a strong drive for quality and performance improvement.
The department has consistently consulted and involved its users and partners in the provision of its services and the assessors’ report noted how Leisure Services had continued to improve and innovate since the award was first made in 1997. They highlighted the many and successful partnership arrangements that had been entered into and also noted the wide range of different leisure services and activities that were available for all age groups living across the District.
Dennis Molyneux, the Charter Mark assessor noted: “The strength of the service lies in its customer focus and the dedication and flexibility of its staff”.
Alan Harris, Council Member for Leisure and Cultural Services said, “To meet the Charter Mark standards requires an enormous amount of hard work and dedication. This recognition of an enthusiastic team of staff, who provide a wide range of leisure services to our District’s residents, is richly deserved.”
