Dial a new number for Horsham Dial-a-Ride

25th January 2006

FROM next Monday (30 January), Horsham Dial-a-Ride is switching to a new method of booking journeys which it is hoped will make the service even more user friendly.

Calls for the Dial-a-Ride service are now being dealt with by the Midhurst Travel Centre and users will need to dial a new number - 01730 815518 - to book their journey.

“Moving to the Travel Centre will make booking journeys easier as the centre will be open to receive calls for longer hours than the present system.

“Bookings can be made anytime between 8am and 5pm on Mondays to Fridays and between 8am and 12 noon on Saturdays.

“This offers a much better service to our customers,” said Roger Fallows, Horsham Dial-a-Ride Co-ordinator.

The change will also mean that Mr Fellows will have more time to develop the service offered by Horsham Dial-a-Ride and to arrange more social events and excursions.

The change to the booking system is just one of the improvements that has been made to the Horsham Dial-a-Ride service in recent months and which have led to a 120% increase in the number of single passenger journeys made over the last six months.

Horsham Dial-a-Ride is operated by the British Red Cross in partnership with Horsham District Council and West Sussex County Council.

To book a journey (from 30 January 2006), users are asked to please telephone (01730) 815518 or for more information about Horsham Dial-a-Ride to call (01403) 754206.

There are a number of other community transport schemes that also operate across the District.  Information about these schemes has been collated in a new one-stop leaflet, which is available by contacting Horsham District Council on (01403) 215137 or email community.development@horsham.gov.uk
