Low cost cavity wall insulation

22nd November 2006

THE cost of heating a home can sometimes be a worry - particularly when it’s cold outside - but Horsham District Council’s Building Control team could have an answer.

The prices for the home insulation scheme offered by Local Authority Building Control (LABC) in association with Powergen are now more competitive than ever before.

Anyone in receipt of qualifying benefits could have cavity wall insulation installed in their home free of charge.

Loft insulation, another way of keeping the house warm, costs from £190.

Cavity wall insulation for any type of suitable property, whether terraced, semi-detached or detached, can be installed from £210 for Powergen customers and discounts are also available for non Powergen customers.

Helen Peacock, Environmental Co-ordination Officer for Horsham District Council, said:

“Insulation is one of the most cost effective ways of improving energy efficiency.

“In times of rising energy prices it is a great way help cut household bills and everyone can take advantage of this heavily discounted scheme.

“Most energy is produced by burning finite fossil fuels which in turn release polluting gases which contribute to climate change. Saving energy is therefore also good for the environment.”

She added: "Other prices are available from the West Sussex Energy Efficiency Advice Centre, which offers free and impartial energy saving advice on 0800 512 012."
