By-election results - Denne Ward, Horsham

8th December 2006

FOLLOWING yesterday’s by-election (7 December 2006) in the Denne ward of Horsham, the newly elected Horsham District Councillor is Cllr Sheila Dale (Liberal Democrat).

The results of the Horsham District Council by-election mean that the political balance at Horsham District Council remains as follows: 23 Conservative, 19 Liberal Democrat and 2 Independent district councillors (44 in total).

The turnout for the by-election was 31.95%.

The candidates received the following number of votes:

Stuart Aldridge (UK Independence Party) – 40

Jacqueline Margaret Cox (Conservative) – 456

Sheila Denise Dale (Liberal Democrat)  - 550

Antony Thomas Reid Fletcher (Independent) – 78

John David Thomas (Labour) – 54

Richard James Trower (British National Party) - 171
