Refuse and recycling over Christmas and New Year

BECAUSE of the holiday period, slightly different household refuse and recycling collections take place in the Horsham District over Christmas and New Year.
This information is provided below.
A personalised household refuse and recycling calendar is also available online for all District residents on the homepage of the Council's website. Just put in the property’s postcode and the calendar will be available for all weeks of the year, including Christmas and the New Year.
Household refuse and recycling over Christmas and New Year
18-22 DECEMBER 2006
• All homes will receive a refuse collection and a recycling collection of cans with plastic bottles and aerosols. For those in Zone A, green garden waste with non-corrugated card will be collected.
25-29 DECEMBER 2006
• There will be no household collections; these will start again from Tuesday 2 January 2007 when up to three extra bags of refuse will be taken (see below for details).
2-6 JANUARY 2007
• With a bank holiday falling on Monday 1 January, the first week’s collections will be delayed by one day. Friday’s collection being made on Saturday 6 January.
• Recycling will be newspapers with magazines only.
• No green waste collections.
• Up to three extra bags of refuse will be taken in this week ONLY.
FROM MONDAY 8 JANUARY 2007
• Collections return to their normal day.
• Recycling will be cans with plastic bottles & aerosols only.
• No green waste collections.
FROM MONDAY 15 JANUARY 2007
• Zone B green garden waste with non-corrugated card collection cycle will start
• Recycling will be newspapers & magazines.
FROM MONDAY 22 JANUARY 2007
• Zone A green garden waste with non-corrugated card collection cycle will start.
• Recycling will be cans with plastic bottles & aerosols.
Christmas trees (real ones only please!) can be chopped up and put into the green waste bin for composting along with any Christmas cards.
