Refuse and Recycling service suspended

24th January 2007

Because of the dangerous condition of many roads and pavements, Horsham District Council has reluctantly decided to suspend collections of recycling and refuse today.

The forecast is for the weather to improve tomorrow and the Council expects to catch up all collections by the end of Saturday.

Residents are asked to put their recycling and refuse out for collection as usual and it will be collected as soon as possible, with crews working on Saturday to catch up.

A spokesman for the Council said;

“It is very unfortunate that conditions have forced us to suspend collections today but we must ensure that the service is operated safely for both the public and our crews. Collections will resume as soon as it is safe tomorrow and the crews will be working overtime, including Saturday, to catch up.

"Please put recycling and refuse containers out at the usual time and we will get to you as soon as possible - thank you for your patience.”
