MicroBiz 2007 - Helping small businesses grow - are you ready?

7th February 2007

HORSHAM MicroBiz, the Horsham District’s premier event for small, start up and home based businesses, returns this year.

Horsham MicroBiz 2007 is taking place on Saturday 10 March at The Drill Hall, Denne Road in Horsham from 10am until 4pm. It’s also free to enter for visitors.

This is the fifth year the event has taken place in Horsham, and the concept originated by Horsham District Council has been so successful that it has been adopted right across West Sussex.

Cllr John Cox, Cabinet Member for Economic Development and IT at Horsham District Council, explained:

“This year's Horsham MicroBiz will offer a carefully planned mix of business information and services, together with a wider choice than ever of inspirational free seminars dedicated to helping small, home based, and start up businesses.

“Horsham MicroBiz is free to enter for visitors, as are the business seminars – however advanced booking for the seminars is advised to avoid disappointment.”

This year there will be twelve business seminars, to choose from, with business experts providing essential advice on subjects including: ‘The Where, Why and How of Starting a Business’, ‘Tax and NI for the Newly Self-employed’, and ‘Funding for Business’.

Also this year, Horsham MicroBiz has enlisted the expert skills of national networking guru, Gwen Rhys, a born networker and successful entrepreneur to provide visitors with the best practical advice on maximizing your networking in ‘‘Making the Most of Networking Events’.

A marketing strategy is essential for any business; Dee Blick, a Chartered Marketer with 22 years of practical marketing experience will help answer questions such as: ‘how do you market your business on a slender budget?’ and ‘what can you do to get the attention of prospective clients?’.

There are will be around 45 stalls on the day at the Horsham event with firms representing accounting, legal services, graphic design, computer services, web design and telecommunications. Local networking organisations are well represented too, as are training providers.

Horsham MicroBiz is organised by Horsham District Council and is sponsored by SEEDA and West Sussex County Council.

The purpose of the event is entirely to support small and home-based businesses; therefore help develop the local economy of the Horsham District and follows on from recent work by Horsham District Council in finding out the needs of the many home based businesses in the area.
