Grab your Warm Front winter warmer

21st February 2007

A CAMPAIGN has been launched in a bid to help vulnerable people keep warm and avoid illness this winter.

Eaga Group, managers of the Government funded initiative, Warm Front, is inviting local residents to make sure they take precautions against the cold weather by applying for the scheme.

Eaga has teamed up with Horsham District Council to tackle the situation in the area.

They are sending out letters inviting eligible homeowners and private tenants to apply for a Warm Front Grant and improve their home insulation and heating.

Under the initiative, households in receipt of certain benefits could be eligible for a grant of up to £2,700 to help pay for energy saving measures including loft insulation, draught proofing, cavity wall insulation, central heating, boiler repairs and replacements. In areas where gas connections are not available, some households may qualify for up to £4,000 to help pay for oil heating.

Those likely to be eligible for a grant include people over 60, householders with a child under 16, pregnant mothers with a MAT B1 certificate and people suffering from disabilities, or a long term illness.

Since the scheme was launched in June 2000, Warm Front has enabled more than 1.1 million households to benefit from a warmer home.

More information on how to apply for the scheme can be found by calling: 0800 316 2814 (and quoting reference MK547).

Lines are open Monday to Friday 8am-6pm and on Saturdays 9am-5pm.
