'Cycle Horsham' Event Launches New District Cycle Routes Pack
8th March 2007
‘On Your Bike’ - the new Horsham District free cycle routes pack - will be launched on Saturday 24 March at an exciting cycling event in Horsham Town Centre.
The event will take place between 11am and 3pm in Horsham’s Carfax when visitors can see some spectacular bike stunts being performed, check out some great bicycles (from late Victorian to the latest designs!), get information and advice on many aspects of cycling, and enter competitions with the chance to win some fantastic prizes.
Cycle shops Southwater Cycles and Southdowns Bikes, which have both sponsored the cycle routes pack, will be at the launch event. Southwater Cycles will have ‘Dr Bike’ on hand, giving visitors the chance to have their bikes checked over and be advised on various maintenance issues.
There are also some great prizes on offer: Southdowns Bikes will be running a ‘Puncture Repair Challenge’ competition, where visitors can win a £25 gift voucher to spend in-store, whilst visitors to The Pavilions In The Park stand will have the chance to win 6 months of free studio cycle classes and a year’s free membership!
For those interested in the early, pre-suspension, days of cycling, Horsham Museum are bringing along a selection of historic bikes cycled by our late Victorian ancestors, whilst Horsham Cycling offers information on a dynamic cycling club here on Horsham’s doorstep.
A special highlight of the event will be Ian Drummond who will be performing exhilarating cycling stunts during the event, guaranteed to inspire the crowd.
At 1.30pm a free 9-mile guided bike ride will be on offer which follows an easy circular route on Pedlars Way, Downs Link and lanes to Southwater. Visitors should meet at the Carfax Bandstand and bring a bike, helmet, drinks and snacks.
The new cycle routes pack ‘On Your Bike’ is absolutely free and will be available at the launch event in Horsham on 24th March and then at the Horsham Tourist Information Centre, district cycle shops, libraries, village halls, leisure centres and Horsham District Council venues.
