New Sussex Baseball Federation launched
23rd March 2007
A NEW federation of clubs has been set up for anyone interested in playing baseball from the age of six upwards in Sussex.
Horsham Junior Baseball Club, Brighton Buccaneers and the Burgess Hill Red Hats have formed the new federation and this will allow anyone living in Sussex to play the game of baseball and experience this fast growing sport.
Horsham Junior Baseball Club will run three leagues for boys and girls aged six to 13 with a T-Ball League for six and seven year olds, a Minor League for 8, 9 and 10 year olds and a Major League for 11, 12 and 13 year olds.
Children will then progress to Burgess Hill which will run a league for children aged 14 to 16 and Brighton Buccaneers will then run adult teams that will compete locally and internationally on probably the best baseball pitch in the country.
Robert Burnie, Co-Chairman with Horsham Junior Baseball Club says:
“This will be a natural progression for children of all ages that want to play the game of baseball in Sussex.
“All three clubs will be as one, and with the experienced coaches we have to help develop the players, Sussex will become the strongest area for baseball in this country.
“Horsham Junior Baseball Club is very excited about the formation of the Sussex Baseball Federation.”
Craig Savage from Brighton Buccaneers agrees:
“The goal is to develop a Sussex based organisation of baseball talent.
“Every step and progression from child to adult will be well coached and fun.
“This eventually will allow us to create our own local leagues to reduce travel and be very competitive for years to come.”
