New Friends for Warnham Local Nature Reserve
15th June 2007
Enthusiastic supporters of Warnham Local Nature Reserve are being invited to join a new Friends group that has recently been set up.
Offering a chance to get active and support Horsham’s beautiful local nature reserve, the group is already involved in developing and promoting the Reserve, raising funds and offering extra activities for the visitor and for the Friends, including field work, guided walks and talks and social activities for the members.
An exciting new website has recently been launched at www.friendsofwarnhamlnr.org.uk, offering a beautiful photographic overview of the flora and fauna seen at the Reserve as well as details of events and other activities organised by the Friends group. A newsletter is also produced quarterly.
Warnham Local nature Reserve, located just North West of Horsham, provides a haven for a variety of wildlife. The Reserve has recorded over 400 species of wild plants, from beautiful Orchids to ancient Oaks, and over 150 species of bird, including a thriving Heronry, wildfowl, woodpeckers and the rare Cetti's Warbler. The beautiful Kingfisher makes the most of the waters and are regularly seen from the birdhides. The Reserve is also rich in dragonfly - over 24 species have been recorded - which take advantage of the different wetland habitats. The Reserve offers a visitor centre and café and is open all year, seven days a week, from 10am - 6pm or Dusk, whichever is earliest.
