Summer Special Wednesdays

25th July 2007

Go shopping in Horsham's Carfax and park for free in Swan Walk car park every Wednesday from 1 August to 5 September.

A bonanza of fantastic shopping opportunities, family entertainment and attractions kicks off next Wednesday 1 August with the premiere of Horsham’s Summer Special Wednesdays.

Summer Special Wednesdays aim to encourage more shoppers to visit Horsham’s historic Carfax mid-week and enjoy free parking in Swan Walk car park on these special days.

Pick up a passport from shops and take it in to any of the participating retail outlets - which will be displaying blue balloons outside their entrance on Summer Special Wednesdays– where you will receive a Blue Balloon sticker.

Once you have collected at least four stickers on your passport, you can take it to Horsham District Council parking office on the second floor of Swan Walk where the ticket will be validated to allow you to exit free of charge between 10am and 4pm on that day.

Summer Special Wednesdays are planned to run throughout August (1, 8, 15, 22, 29) and on 5 September.  The exciting package of mid-week promotions and attractions will include a local market in the Carfax running from 9am to 4pm, featuring a varied selection of stalls.

The special attractions and entertainments include an entertaining and educational 'Kidsrome Farm on the Mooove' with sheep, goats, chickens, pigs and more!  Fred’s Flying Circus are also to feature, with their fantastic father and daughter family circus show.  The 5 September sees an opportunity for mums to pamper themselves.  With the kids back at school, mums will be able to take advantage of special offers and discounts at various town salons and cafes.

Dennis Hardy, Chairman of Horsham Traders Guild said "Summer Special Wednesdays present an unmissable opportunity for shoppers of all ages to enjoy the benefits of visiting what is a fantastic town, which is spearheading the Blue Balloon promotions with the support of Horsham District Council."

Cllr Philip Circus, Cabinet Member for the Local Economy at Horsham District Council welcomed the initiative, commenting; "I am personally pleased to give my support to this pilot initiative from businesses around the Carfax to increase their business mid- week this Summer and hope that the public will take full advantage of Summer Special Wednesdays."
