Easy to read Disability Equality Scheme
22nd August 2007
THE NEW Disability Equality Scheme published by Horsham District Council is available in a format making it more accessible for all.
The ‘Easy Read’ copy aims to make the scheme available to people who have difficulties reading the usual style, but still need to know about important issues that affect them.
The Disability Equality Scheme and accompanying action plan show what Horsham District Council is doing to make sure the Council gives equal chances to disabled people and how it intends to go about this.
The Council has liaised with local disabled people and organisations to establish the best ways to implement its action plan.
Councillor Andrew Baldwin, Horsham District Cabinet Member for Housing and Community Support, said:
“We are working hard to make sure that this important information is easy to access for everyone.
“As well as the ‘Easy Read’ document we are also able to provide alternative copies in braille, large print and audio tape upon request.”
